I. Pull up the speech you found on classroom, take a minute or two to scroll through what other people brought. 

Find a group of 3, share the speeches you brought and why. You can show a minute or so clip of it, but then explain why you brought that. 



Nominate 2 speeches to watch  as a class.


Add to our list of what makes a strong speech.

Take notes , bullet points, on what sticks out to you.



III. Creating your speech :

Brainstorm in notebook----> What life events have led you to where you are/who you are today?





Topic choices: 

Assessment: write and share your own personal speech from ONE of the following topics:

  1. An event that marked a turning point in your life
  2. A moment in which you were outside your comfort zone
  3. An experience in which you were the new person somewhere
  4. Key moment/s of your childhood that shaped you into who you are today.
  5. Other: (choose a personal experience or part of your life that you’d like to write a speech about and get teacher approval)

Length- 3-5 minutes. Write out 2-4 paragraphs and time yourself.  Pretty short.
You may read it, but definitely look up as much as possible and
it's ok to not say exactly what you have written
